Big congratulations to our Creative Director, Jules Holland, who has recently been named as North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year. Well done Jules!
Jules scooped his award at the glitzy, British Hairdresser of the Year Awards, at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The Awards are the most highly acclaimed and prestigious hairdressing awards in the world, showcasing celebrity hairdressers’ skills in cutting, colouring and creative work.
Jules joined us here at The Mark Hill Salon 13 years ago, and has worked on fashion shoots, TV programmes, magazine features and The BAFTAs. He also heads up The Mark Hill Creative Team, who won the Artistic Team of the Year award.
Jules’s winning shoot featured international models who were captured by a photographer you might be familiar with – none other than Mark himself!
Jules laughed: “I think my photographer knew what to capture! He is the twice winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year award after all! Mark’s encouragement and belief in me inspired me to achieve my dreams. He was always saying ‘You can do it!’”.
Jules relocated from the Lake District when he joined us in Hull. He has come to love the North East and admits that it made his award even more special.
He said: “Being able to represent the people of the North East is a real honour. Since moving here I have been made to feel warm and welcome in one of the friendliest cities in the UK. I’d really like to thank all of my clients, colleagues and friends for their support in helping me on my journey to winning this award.
“I have always wanted to follow in Mark’s footsteps. After Mark won his second British Hairdresser of the Year award, I took some time out to promote Mark Hill Hair Cosmetics and Heat Stylers, but always knew I would one day enter the awards. Being nominated was a remarkable achievement, but winning on my first attempt just meant the world to me. I am so happy – it’s a dream come true!”
